Why Travel with Us

We've been running treks in Nepal since 2004, long enough to know what goes wrong and how to make sure it doesn't. Madcap Adventure was built here, by people who live here, and everything we do on the trail reflects that. We're not a booking platform. We're not an international operator with a Kathmandu affiliate. We're a Nepali company, and these mountains are our backyard.

  • Local team, not an office abroad. Our guides, porters, and logistics staff are Nepali, based here, working here year-round. When you book with us, your money stays in Nepal, and your support comes from people who know this terrain intimately.
  • Government-licensed guides only. Every guide on our treks holds a valid Nepal Government trekking guide license. We don't cut corners on safety-critical roles, no freelancers, no exceptions. Every guide is also affiliated with TAAN and NMA, and Madcap Adventure is fully registered with the Nepal Tourism Board.
  • Over two decades of Himalayan experience. We've been operating since 2004. That's twenty years of high-altitude logistics, route knowledge, and problem-solving on the ground in Nepal, not in a head office somewhere else.
  • Itineraries built for the mountain, not the brochure. We plan every day of every itinerary around safety, acclimatization, and realistic walking hours. We don't squeeze stages to make a trip look shorter on paper than it is on the trail.
  • Permits and paperwork handled for you. National park entry permits, TIMS cards, and any restricted area permits are arranged before you arrive at the trailhead. You won't lose a day standing in a permit office when you could be on the trail.
  • Experience across every major trekking region. From Everest and Annapurna to Langtang and Manaslu, our guides know the terrain, culture, and logistics specific to each route, not a one-size-fits-all approach applied everywhere.
  • Honest, itemised pricing. We break down exactly what you're paying for. If something isn't included, we tell you before you book, not when you're standing at a tea house wondering why lunch isn't covered. No hidden costs, no surprise additions mid-trek.
  • Fair conditions for all staff. We follow minimum wage and working conditions standards for every member of our local team. Porters carry regulated loads, nothing more. The people making your trek possible are treated with the same care we extend to our guests.
  • Safety built into the logistics, not bolted on. Every guide carries a comprehensive first aid kit, a pulse oximeter for daily oxygen monitoring, and an emergency oxygen cylinder for high-altitude sections. We follow strict altitude protocols. If your numbers drop and don't recover, descent happens, no negotiation.
  • Comfort where it counts. Kathmandu accommodation is comfortable and well-located. Tea houses on the trail are the best available at each stop. Nutritious meals, equipment support, and attentive guides mean the basics are never an afterthought.
  • Community investment with a number attached. A portion of every trek goes back into the communities along our routes, post-earthquake reconstruction support, local employment, and conservation efforts in the regions we operate. We contribute to local schools along several trekking routes, covering uniforms and stationery. We'll always tell you exactly where that contribution goes.
  • Sustainability that means something. We support eco-friendly tourism practices on every departure, responsible waste management on the trail, fair porter treatment, and investment in the local communities that make these routes what they are.
  • Someone on call, always. Your guide carries emergency contact numbers throughout the route. Our Kathmandu office has a team member on call during every active trek, so if something comes up, you're not waiting until Monday morning.
  • Keepsakes and recognition that are actually worth keeping. Every trekker receives a Madcap Adventure cap, duffel bag, and t-shirt, plus a trek completion certificate at the end. Repeat clients receive a loyalty discount on future bookings, because if you've trekked with us once, we want you back.
  • A trekking map that's actually useful on the trail. We provide every trekker with a detailed trekking map covering the full route, villages, elevations, and tea house locations for their specific trek. Old-school, practical, and far more reliable than a phone battery at 4,000m.
